Outpatient mental health care

Outpatient counseling for children, teens, and adults

When something is making everyday life harder, it can help to have a place to talk about it. CFSS provides individual and family counseling for ages 4 and older at our Reading and Pottsville offices and by telehealth. Whether you are looking for yourself or someone you love, you can call us to ask about the next step.

Individual counseling gives you time to focus on your concerns

Individual counseling means meeting one to one with a therapist. The conversation can help you understand difficult feelings or patterns and work on changes that matter in your daily life, whether your concerns involve home, school, work, or relationships.

You can ask the therapist what they recommend, how the work will relate to your goals, and how you will know whether it is helping.

Family counseling helps you work through concerns together

When one person is struggling, the effects can reach the whole family. Family counseling brings family members into the conversation so they can better understand what is happening and work on how they respond to one another.

CFSS offers family counseling in both offices and by telehealth. Ask staff how family counseling may fit the concerns you want help with and who should take part.

Choose an office visit or ask about telehealth

You can receive counseling at our Reading or Pottsville office. Individual and family counseling are also available by telehealth, and you must be in Pennsylvania during each telehealth session.

If you are unsure which appointment to request, call an office and ask about getting started. The front desk completes the referral with you.

Therapy at school

CFSS also provides outpatient therapy in schools. Call to ask whether CFSS serves your child's school and how school-based care is arranged.

Counseling in Spanish

Both offices have Spanish-speaking staff and interpreters for counseling. To set up a first appointment in Spanish, call the Reading office, which handles all Spanish-language new-client calls.

Paying for counseling

CFSS accepts Medicaid through Community Care Behavioral Health (CCBH). Coverage depends on your plan, county, and the service you need, so call an office to check your coverage. Self-pay is also available; please call for current rates.
